The Hellenic Project is reaching out to well-loved composers with a suggestion: why not set some Greek poetry to music? The composers will have to select their own material and seek inspiration from Greek poets; whether they choose poets beloved by the public or less well-known is entirely up to them.

Once again, the Hellenic Project has set out to encourage and facilitate the writing and performance of 20 new songs. However, the nature of this new cycle comes with an added bonus: it will spotlight the sheer range and expressive power of Greek poetry in an art-form addressed, by its nature, at a broader audience: song.
