Summer schools 2013 - A journey to knowledge!

The Onassis Foundation and the Alexander S. Onassis  Foundation Cultural  Center  non profit  organization (AMKE) welcome to Athens 190 students from Greece, the European Union, the USA, Australia and Asia in order to participate in the summer schools within the framework of the project entitled "The Academy of Plato:  Knowledge and  pioneering ideas  development”.
 
The pilot project started in the summer 2012 and was completed successfully. The program will be continued during the summer of 2013 where 70 students and their escort teachers from the High School of Rodolivos, Serres (Greece), the Institut du Sacré-Coeur from Mons (Belgium), the Frederick Douglass Academy from New York (USA), the Stedelijk Gymnasium Leiden from Leiden (Netherlands) and the National High School for Ancient Languages and Cultures “St. Constantine Cyril the Philosopher” from Sophia (Bulgaria) will visit Athens.
 
Summer Schools will be offering a variety of interesting topics and will enable high school students to meet their peers from Greek schools and from other schools abroad. They will be able to approach and to  constructively deal with various fields/topics within the scope of the rationale of the "Academy of Plato" and to familiarize with the developments in various fields that take place in Greece.
 
The guest students will get a taste of Greek history, literature, philosophy and culture from the ancient times until today, through contemporary and attractive methods of approaching specific topics; these include team work and workshops, visit to sites of particular cultural, archeological or architectural  interest, sports, lectures offered by University and high school teachers, open discussions with museum directors, restorers of works of art, writers, theater and film directors, photographers, etc.

The project of Summer Schools is being implemented in frame of the project Academy of Plato: Development of Knowledge and Innovative Ideas” which is co-financed from National and Εuropean Funds through the operational program “Education and Lifelong Learning”.
