‘Distant Utopias’

6 Jun 2016
A visual-arts exhibition in search of utopias, questioning whether utopias can exist under conditions of late capitalism.
Exhibition's opening day: 6 June 2016 | 19:00
Exhibition's visiting hours: daily 12:00-21:00

From 6 to 10 June, the Onassis Cultural Centre (OCC) goes to Diplareios School (3 Theatre Sq) for yet another time this year. In collaboration with the Careers Office of the Athens School of Fine Arts, OCC presents the exhibition Distant Utopias in the context of the Symposium ‘Utopia 500’ that took place in Delphi and at OCC in May 2016.

Christos Michaelides and MA students Valia Papastamou and Pythagoras Hadjiandreou (MA in Visual-Arts, Athens School of Fine Arts) use the google maps engine in search of ‘distant’ utopias, in order to examine through the medium of visual arts one of the Symposium’s questions: Can utopias exist under conditions of late capitalism?

Artists: Christos Michaelides, Valia Papastamou, Pythagoras Hadjiandreou
Curator: Yiannis Kontaratos
Coordination : Pasqua Vorgia

Organizers: Onassis Cultural Centre-Athens, in collaboration with the Careers Office of the Athens School of Fine Arts
