Diasporas in Dialogue: Multiculturalism, Migration and the Improvisatory Imagination
A three-day international meeting including three live music events, an installation and a conference in an effort to induce active dialogue and interesting interactions among various disciplines.
Improvised music is often theorized as a potent site for interpersonal dialogue, the presentation and modification of collective and individual identities, and, therefore, the coming-to-know-the-other and entering into community with them. Can an understanding of improvisation help us understand both the difficulties multiculturalism faces, and possible new configurations of it?
In a three-day international meeting including three live music events, an installation and an interantional conference, artists, activists and academics alike will share their ideas with the public, in an effort to induce active dialogue and interesting interactions among various disciplines.
