New Models and Practices for Audience Development in Contemporary Music in Europe

June 2016 - December 2019
Eight countries join forces in this innovative interdisciplinary project which seeks to introduce audiences to cutting-edge work by musicians and sound artists.
True to its mission to forge links with important institutions internationally, the OCC has designed—and is currently implementing as the Interfaces project co-ordinator—an international, interdisciplinary project that seeks to bring new music to a broad spectrum of younger audiences. With the support of the Creative Europe programme, Interfaces brings together nine partners from the UK, Germany, France, Cyprus, Belgium, Romania and Austria to explore innovative ways of introducing audiences to the work of cutting-edge musicians and sound artists. To achieve this goal, the network will be staging a wide range of activities: new forms of performance in innovative spaces using new media, educational activities, audience development research, conferences and artist residences.

The large volume of original work created in the context of the programme will be presented to the public at live events and via the web portal

The Interfaces network co-ordinator is the Onassis Cultural Centre-Athens (GR).

Project managers: Christos Carras, Dora Vougiouka

The network includes the following partners: De Montfort University (UK), European University Cyprus | EUC (Cyprus), IRCAM (France), ZKM | Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (Germany), CREMAC (Romania), Q-O2 (Belgium), Ictus (Belgium), Klangforum Wien (Austria)

The Interfaces project is possible thanks to the support of the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
