As a literary genre, biography has not flowered in Greece as it has elsewhere. Of course, it is a demanding genre, and one which demands research before all else. To be really successful, biography must borrow stylistic elements from the novel, but do so without compromising the credibility of the information it contains. So, could it be that we undervalue biography in Greece, considering it a ‘lower’ art-form, or might it be that research does not flourish in any form in this country?

The “Literature: people’s stories” cycle seeks to shed light on individual life stories which, having acquired a mythic dimension by being set down on paper in book form, can go so far as to influence a nation’s cultural, social and even political life.
