A Workshop based on Hassan Madjooni's (Mehr Theatre Group) experience on Chekhov
17 March 2012
Τhe workshop focuses on the notion of location and surrounding and on the props and objects on Chekhov's great plays, for generating dramaturgical situations.
Hassan Madjooni is a theatre director, actor, stage designer, University Professor and founder of the Leev Theatre Group. He has staged various plays from well-known international playwrights, such as Anton Chekov or Shakespeare, along with well-known Iranian ones.
As a director, he has won various awards for his works.
As an actor, Hassan Madjooni works with director Amir Reza Koohestani (Amid the Clouds, 2006, and Quartet: A Journey North, 2007); both plays staged successfully in Europe and has won the acting award at the Zürcher Theater Spektakel Festival in 2005, for his performance in Amid the Clouds.
In addition to teaching at the Art University of Tehran, he has led different acting and directing workshops in Iran.
In 2010, the Critics Association of Iran’s Theatre House awarded him as the “Best Theatre Director of the Year” for his play For a Fistful of Rubles.
His recent works Seagull and Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov are being staged simultaneously in Iranshahr Hall in Tehran, since February 2011.
