3rd Youth Theatre Festival

Teenagers – Citizens of the world

17 - 19 May 2013
Upper Stage
Following on from the 2nd Teenage Theatre Festival in the spring of 2012, Grasshopper and the Onassis Cultural Centre bring renewed enthusiasm and inspiration to the staging of the 3rd Teenage Theatre Festival. Over three days, theatre groups from secondary schools, lycées and municipalities will perform work that has developed out of their intense engagement with theatre professionals: playwrights, directors, actors and dramatists. Our goal is a high-quality Greek theatre for teenagers—but not only—which puts the creativity, imagination and talent of the upcoming generation to full use through our interactions with them.

This year, the OCC is inaugurating its partnership with London’s National Theatre in the “Connections” programme, a selection of works commissioned from established playwrights and performed in a number of British schools in 2012. At the OCC, teenage theatre groups from Athens will read the works, giving this year’s Teenage Theatre Festival an international dimension.
