What would we be listening to today if Marco Polo had recorded the sounds and music he encountered on his travels? Joined on stage by musicians from Italy, China, Iran and Mongolia, Kyriakos Kalaitzidis and the award-winning En Chordais ensemble invite us to recreate the journeys of Marco Polo in our minds.

A mosaic of world musical traditions will unfold before us in their performances: classical Chinese music, Uzbek songs, Indian forms, courtly Persian music, Byzantine melos, mediaeval music from Venice and compositions inspired by the various esoteric journeys of the Venetian traveler which Kalaitzidis composed especially for this concert.
