After performance talk with Israel Galvan
A celebrated dancer and award-winning choreographer, Israel Galvan creates a personal idiolect out of the Flamenco idiom and uses it as the expressive means to tackle a difficult subject: the persecution of the Roma in fascist Spain during the nineteen thirties and forties. “He dances the reality”, achieving the near-impossible and conveying the pain and the suffering—but also the pride, free spirit and love of life—of an ethnic group that remains persecuted to this day. Lo Real is a performance full of tragic memories that instil strength and a passion for life and justice.
